News Flash! Well, it's bad news about the breeding of Jamaica and Kody. With only one pup, her body did not produce enough hormones to sustain the pregnancy and she resorbed the puppy. We are very disappointed but will try again on her next cycle, which should be in February, 2012. So, stay tuned!
Lighthouse Chinooks is dedicated to the sound breeding of the rare breed that accompanied Admiral Byrd on his polar expeditions. We breed for the total package - temperament, health and structure. We breed infrequently and selectively. Our dogs are named after American lighthouses. Lighthouse Chinooks is committed to mentoring new owners and breeders and we support the Chinook Club of America, Inc, AKC parent club, and its standard. Our dogs are also UKC registered and have Purple Ribbon (PR) status.
Chinooks are working dogs and excel in activities like sledding, ski-jorring, bike-jorring, rally, agility and therapy. Lighthouse Chinooks is committed to careful placement of our pups. Training is a must and we strongly encourage our owners to be involved in show and performance trials. Our foundation dogs, CH Mahng O'dei's Outlaw Yuch'ann and Saghalie's Kananaskis Windfall produced two litters totaling 17 pups. Our pups inherited their parents' excellent health, temperaments, color and structure. Some of these pups have been bred and we are now pleased to have 4 generations of purebred Chinooks throughout the U.S., a few in Canada and one in Switzerland! Consistency is what you will see in the Lighthouse line and our grandpups, Jamaica and Yukon, Basil and Nome are dogs to watch as they embody the traditional Chinook and the stamp of their grandsire can be plainly seen.
